Project Background
Nantian Gateway was born from a simple realization: while Kubernetes ingress and API gateways have traditionally been dominated by complex, monolithic architectures or configuration-heavy engines, modern microservices demand simpler, safer, and faster routing infrastructures.
We built Nantian Gateway to combine the rich, production-tested ecosystem of Go (for controlling and interpreting Kubernetes cluster states) with the blazing-fast, memory-safe, and GC-less runtime of Rust (for handling active data-plane traffic). By keeping configuration aligned strictly with standard Kubernetes Gateway API (v1.5.1) specifications, we eliminate custom CRDs and proprietary configuration structures, offering a standardized approach.
Our Vision
Our vision is to empower cloud-native teams with a unified gateway that solves traditional routing while serving as a secure, fast **AI Gateway** out of the box. We believe in open-source standards, deep performance optimization (leveraging Pingora), and extensibility through a modern Wasm-based plugin ecosystem.
Maintainers & Community
Nantian Gateway is actively developed and maintained by the Nantian Gateway Open Source Community. We are a collection of cloud-native engineers, platform developers, and AI researchers passionate about high-performance networking and Kubernetes.
As a community-driven project, we welcome contributions of all forms—including documentation, code, design, issues, and discussions. You can find us and join our conversations on our official GitHub repository.
